We’re all about adrenaline-fueled adventures, but let’s be clear—flipping your ATV into a swamp or attempting viral stunt videos isn’t the goal. Our mission is ensuring you have the best off-road experience possible while staying safe.
So gear up (helmet up, actually), and let’s cover the essential ATV safety guidelines and riding techniques
Your ATV Safety Training Begins Before the Engine Starts
We don’t just hand you keys and wave goodbye. Every Righteous Rides ATV rental includes comprehensive safety training. Here’s your arrival process:
Our team verifies your signed waiver, checks your valid driver’s license, and professionally fits you with:
Quick but thorough walkthrough covering:
Essential safety rules including:
First-time ATV riders or need clarification? Ask now—once you’re on the trails, you’re your own instructor. Our experienced team ensures every rider feels confident before departing.
The Non-Negotiables (But Essential for Your Safety)
Legal Documentation:
Safety Equipment (100% Mandatory):
Age & Licensing Requirements:
Zero Tolerance Policy: No alcohol. No drugs. No exceptions.
Arriving impaired results in immediate rental termination without refund. This policy protects you, other riders, and our equipment. Safety is non-negotiable at Righteous Rides.
Throttle Control for Smooth Riding: Aggressive throttle inputs on ATVs cause loss of control. Apply steady, progressive acceleration—not video game slam-and-go techniques. Smooth throttle control = safer riding without emergency room visits.
Uphill ATV Riding Technique:
Downhill ATV Safety:
Cornering Techniques for Off-Road Trails:
Navigating Uneven Terrain:
Mud & Water Crossing Safety Rules:
Proper Trail Spacing: Maintain minimum two ATV lengths between your Polaris and the rider ahead. Prevents:
Heat + physical activity = dehydration risk. Bring plenty of water for your entire rental period (7 hours). There may be food trucks, but pack your own supplies for trail convenience.
Trails feature creek crossings and plenty of mud. Smart riders bring:
Many ATV models include storage compartments for personal items. Ask during orientation about secure storage locations on your specific ATV.
Our ATVs are Powerful, Durable, and Expensive
We want you to push boundaries and have epic adventures—but within the equipment’s intended capabilities.
Treat rental ATVs with respect:
Damage Fees Apply: Your $200 damage deposit covers minor wear from normal trail riding. Reckless operation, rule violations, or intentional damage results in additional charges to your card on file.
Equipment respect = future adventures. We’d love to see you back for another rental—help us keep our ATV fleet in top condition.
This Safety Guide is Your Preview—The Waiver is the Full Story
Think of this page as the “movie trailer” for ATV safety at Righteous Rides. Your liability waiver and rental contract contain the complete legal terms, conditions, and detailed rules.
What’s in Your Rental Agreement:
You must read and electronically sign all documents before your scheduled rental date. Unsigned waivers prevent ATV rental—no exceptions.
The rules exist for one reason: ensuring you actually get to tell the story about your awesome Grand River Motorsports adventure—instead of us telling it for you (or worse, to your insurance company).
Mechanical Issues: If your ATV experiences mechanical problems, safely stop in a clear area and contact Righteous Rides immediately using the phone number provided at check-in.
Getting Stuck:
Lost on Trails: Trails are marked, but if disoriented:
Medical Emergencies:
Your safety is our priority. When in doubt, stop and ask for help.
